Zhuoer Mountain

Considered as "Little Switzerland in the East", Zhuoer Mountain is one of the fantastic scenic options in Qilian Area, Qinghai Province. Zhuoer Mountain is called "Zongmu Ma Glama" in Tibetan, which means beautiful ruddy queen. It showcases the typical characteristics of the Danxia landform. The combination of crimson sandstone and green grassland forms a unique landscape with sharp colour contrast.

What to Visit in Zhuoer Mountain?

Zhuoer Mountain offers many stunning natural views, and it is also a base for many writers, poets, photographers and artists to draw from life. The forests, rape blossoms, villages, and county towns on both sides of the mountains will feast your eyes.
There is a historical Beacon Tower in Zhuoer Mountain, which was built in the Western Xia Dynasty. This beacon tower is the commanding height of the scenic spot. When you are standing on the beacon tower, you can enjoy the spectacular view of Qilian Area.
Qilian Mountain is a wet island surrounded by deserts, stretching for more than 800 kilometres along the border between Gansu and Qinghai provinces

                         

                           
 
The stupendous scenery of Rapeseed Flower Fields and the colourful flowers will attract numerous visitors to Zhuoer Mountain. Meanwhile, from Mid-June to 20th July is the season of rape flowering, at that time, a large number of tourists will come to Zhuoer Mountain to see the blooming flowers.
Travellers can enjoy the broad view at the top of Zhuoer Mountain, without any obstructions around it. Opposite the Zhuoer Mountain is Niuxin Mountain, which has is the best place to have a panoramic view of the four seasons. Babao River at the foot of the mountain is like a white Hada surrounded the county seat.

Weather and Climate of Zhuoer Mountain, Qilian Area:

Qilian Area has a typical plateau continental climate with an average temperature of 1°C and an annual rainfall of about 420 mm. From June to August is the best time to tavel to Zhuoer Mountain; among them, from June- July, many photographers, and flower lovers will come to Zhuoer Mountain to see the blooming golden flowers.

How to Get to Zhuoer Mountain?
1. Xining Automobile Passenger Transport Center ( tourism distribution center ) has a shuttle bus to Qilian County, six times a day, departure time: 08:15, 09:15, 10:15, 11:15, 12:30; 14:30.
2. Xining - Zhangye National Highway 227-Ebao Town-Eqi Highway-until the end.
3. Xining - Xihai Town, Haibei Prefecture (Jinyintan Grassland, also known as Atomic City) - Qilian - Huangjia Highway (from Huangyuan County to Jiayuguan, Gansu Province) - until the end.
