The Zagunluk Cemetery

  Located 5 kilometers to the southwest of the county seat of Qiemo, the cemetery covers an area of 35 thousands square meters. The date of it is from 1,000 B.C. to the Han- Jing times. The tombs can be divided into three stages. The first stage can date back to1, 000 B.C. the tombs have a rectangular earthen pit, with funerary objects of stone, wood and pottery, etc. The second stage is between the 8th century B.C. and the 2nd century B.C. Structure of the tombs is complicated, and besides the rectangular earthen shaft tombs, there appeared rectangular tombs with a passage and a shed, square tombs with shed, and rectangular earthen shaft tombs with a shed. In addition to the woodenwares and potteries, the funerary objects still include implements of bone, horn, bronze, and iron and textiles. The third stage belongs to the Han-Jing times, appeared tombs with a side cave-chamber and a rectangular wooden coffin. Among the funerary there appeared documents and glass wares. Now it is listed as a major cultural site under the autonomous region protection.
