SAFTEY: Crime is relatively low in Armenia, but travelers should still be careful with their personal possessions and avoid any unnecessary displays of wealth.
One of the most common feedbacks of our tourists is that while walking along Yerevan streets they feel quite safe.

Most of Armenia has a dry, high-altitude climate except for verdant rainy pockets in Lori, Tavush and Syunik. Spring (March to May) has more flowers but autumn (late September to early November) has long, warm days and more stable weather. It’s also the time of harvest festivals and delicious fresh produce – Yerevan averages 27°C in both seasons. Summer (June to August) in Yerevan can be 40°C for days at a time, while conditions can be radically different in the north. Lake Sevan has a short summer – late June to September – but is Canadian during winter: -10°C on average. Winter weather lasts until April or May over much of the country.

LANGUAGE : Armenian is the official language, and it has its own alphabet. Russian is widely spoken and English is becoming more prominent especially among the younger generation.
TIPPING: Many restaurants in the capital will add a service charge onto the bill, but this does not go to the staff, so tips are welcome in Armenia.
COMMUNICATIONS:The international dialing code for Armenia is +374. The outgoing code is 00 followed by the relevant country code (e.g. 001 for the US). City codes are in use, and the national prefix to call between cities is 0 e.g. (0)10 for Yerevan. Public pre-paid card phones are available throughout the country. Post offices and major hotels have international dialing access, but calls are expensive. Internet cafes are available in Yerevan and other large cities. Mobile phones can be rented too.

MONEY MATTERS: The national currency is Armenian Dram(AMD).  In stores and other commercial centers trade is carried out in the national currency only. There is no problem with the foreign currency exchange, as almost everywhere and in many stores there are exchange desks where you can exchange any currency.
Notes come in denominations of AMD50,000, 20,000, 10,000, 5,000, 1,000 and coins come in denominations of AMD500, 200, 100, 50, 20 and 10.
Credit Cards, ATM’s : All of the major credit cards are accepted in most cities in Armenia.
There are ATMs available in the major cities in Armenia. For more information check the Visa ATM locator, the MasterCard ATM locator or the American Express ATM locator for the addresses of ATMs around the world.
